This is a notice to all FEAR dedicated server admins running SEC2 server patch.
SEC2 key authentication was developed using GameSpy Open SDK services, and this service is slated to be terminated on December 19th (thanks Glu Mobile!).

The good news is that we have been busy working on a replacement master server to replace GameSpy and continue to manage the key authentication. The solution is almost ready for prime time, pending finalization of a hosting provider. With the new solution, all existing and future SEC2 keys will continue to work provided that server admins install an updated SEC2 version that will be made available very shortly.
It is also expected that the new master server solution will eventually be expanded to host the in-game server listing that was recently shut down by GameSpy, allowing the in-game server browser functionality to be restored.
What remains unknown is how long legacy FEAR keys will continue to be authenticated, considering that GameSpy can shut down the service at any time, similar to what they have already done to the FEAR server listing. At such time, we would encourage all FEAR players still using a legacy key to register on this site for a new key to be able to continue playing until the end of time!
More details to come soon. Please stay tuned!
